Content with Personality

Television and event host. Storyteller. Dauntless adventurer. 2017 QVC National Host Search finalist. Woman on a mission.

Lifestyle Host, Writer, and Executive Producer Ashley Mengwasser is an eight-time Emmy Award winning media talent. She began her 14-year career in television hosting GPB’s popular series Georgia Traveler. Segment highlights include skydiving with grandma, boxing with an Olympian, ballroom dancing, and a ghoulish zombie transformation.

This former high-school Valedictorian is as brainy as she is brazen. With an abiding commitment to making media that educates, Ashley hosts GPB Education’s ongoing Emmy Award winning Live Exploration series, which takes K-12 students on a deep dive into various industries. Creative sparks fire when Ashley co-hosts the annual InVenture Prize at Georgia Tech. 2024 marks Ashley’s ninth year hosting this special program, dubbed “American Idol…for nerds.”

Ashley even goes “audio only” as host of the Classroom Conversations podcast series for Georgia educators, now in its fourth season.

During Georgia’s 40-day legislative session, Ashley produces the live half-hour public television staple Lawmakers from under the Gold Dome. But covering politics doesn’t ward off the “woo-woo.” In 2022, Ashley wrote and Executive Produced the PBS program The Main Way to Wealth with Monica Main.

Every host has career favorites. In 2018, Ashley was handpicked to host Lowe’s explosive YouTube competition “DIY-No-Mite.” Soon after, she packed a duffel bag of dog treats to film the syndicated pet travel special Pets Welcome Here with her late basset hound Rosie “co-hosting.” Her magnum opus as a writer-producer is the PBS cultural documentary Chinese Tea: Elixir of the Orient. This artistic international project swept six Emmys in 2017, including Ashley’s solo Emmy for writing.

In the Atlanta community, Ashley emcees non-profit galas, helping to raise more than $700,000 to benefit women, children, and families. She acquired her passion for people and telling their stories at Agnes Scott College. Ashley graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Agnes Scott in 2009 with a B.A. in English Literature.

Today, she spends her non-work hours vacuuming, restaurant hopping, or training her floppy child, basset hound Starla. Starla enjoys peanut butter and sticks…but this isn’t about her.
